I'm looking for hard numbers and study data around topics related to word of mouth, or "buzz" marketing. Something along the lines of "82% of consumers ask a friend before they buy something." A single link to a single study is useful. A link to an archive of such studies would be amazing and valuable.

Any data is going to be specific to an industry. Most likely the specific data you need has not been collected or is not public information. (People like to be paid for doing the research).
